The place is awesome. The house is comfortable and very private.
We brought our own boat and ended up finding the place on our own because we were told to put the boat in at the incorrect ramp. If you are bringing your own boat make sure you have directions to the island ahead of time. We lost about an hour due to this miscommunication. The island was only a 10 minute boat ride.

Place was exactly as described. Location was clean got tour of what to do and where things were when we arrived. Did plenty of fishing and crabbing and really enjoyed our stay. Solar cut out a few times possibly due to rain and heavy clouds. Very enjoyable stay overall and would do it again.

We had a blast on this beautiful property. It is very quiet and peaceful. We loved catching crabs and fish off the dock. The tower is a great spot to relax in the breeze with a cocktail. Will book once a year for sure!

We enjoyed our stay to the fullest at Old House Cay! Such a peaceful location. We had easy access to Harbor Town, Dafuskie, Boat docks with our boat from the house. The Observation tower was a great place to watch the sunset. The kitchen was perfectly sized as were the bedrooms. We loved the outdoor shower and the firepit! We would love to book this place again.

Beautiful, extremely unique location, we had an incredibly relaxing stay. I highly recommend the location.

The warnings about boat access and planning accordingly are valid. I recommend you plan for a private boat ($270 round trip) if you don't want to be on the island the entire stay.

Had some challenges with the check in schedule (I think the organization that manages this wasn't well set up to handle last minute bookings). Also an initial issue with water and power - but worked through on the next day. Overall an excellent trip. We appreciate the opportunity to stay here, and recommend it!

Had an incredible stay here with some friends. Would definitely recommend staying for at least a few days in order to take everything in. The hosts were kind and helpful all throughout the booking process and the stay.

Old House Cay is a truly unique experience!! Our family had a wonderful time! The hosts were responsive and very helpful. If you’re looking to get off grid with the comforts of home, this is your place!

A few tips:
-bring lots of drinking water
-if you’re planning on leaving the island for an excursion during the trip (we went to HHI and rode bikes!) the chartered boat is very expensive $135+ each way for a 5 min ride across the bay..
-bring bug spray!
-there were lots of condiments, spices, etc. no need to bring all that stuff
-there is an AUX cord for music using the old headphone jack! Bring a dongle if you want to use their great sound system!
-plan ahead, you truly are on an island with no way to shore without a boat— think through your flight times, etc. and don’t cut it too close if there’s a delay in the pickup / drop off

Highly recommend this unique vacation experience!! Island exceeded our expectations! Having wine and a S’mores package waiting for us was a nice touch as well as the fire pit being ready to go! All we had to do was light it up. Kitchen is very well equipped. Boat driver gave us a nice walking tour of the island and made sure we had any questions we had answered before leaving us. We relaxed and unplugged! So quiet and peaceful! My favorite part of the island was the private beach. We enjoyed having picnic lunches at the tower, walks, sunbathing, naps in the hammock, reading, watching sunsets, eating S’mores, and relaxing by the fire. Outdoor shower was cold but refreshing on a hot day and a unique experience! Loved seeing the dolphins. Saw lots of different kinds of birds, a stingray, little crabs, and anoles. Just my husband and I but we are looking forward to coming back with our kids!

Great spot! We loved how relaxing it was and the multiple spaces to enjoy. We packed water based on other reviews and we are glad we did, the well water is drinkable but tastes like the well. We also packed beach towels- which we didn’t need, they are offered. The house is very quiet at night, peaceful as could be! That said, earplugs were helpful for those of us going to bed earlier than others since the noise really travels. We were so glad we brought our boat for easy transportation and water activities. The current in front of the dock is incredibly strong and not safe for youngsters or weak swimmers to just jump in, so we were thankful to have our boat. Things like fishing poles and kayaks were on premise, which was a nice touch. We loved this rustic-ish stay. Comfortable, fun & beautiful!
